Construction Notice

Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) in cooperation with the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC) will begin Phase One of a two-phase project to improve McKellips Road between State Route 101 (SR 101L) to Alma School Road starting Monday, May 15, 2023.

Phase One will construct the underground infrastructure and includes installing water and sewer lines, and a new drainage system. Once completed, Phase Two will begin as a separate project and construct final pavement, curb, sidewalk and infrastructure for street light improvements. A raised roadway median island will be built along McKellips Road through the project limits and improvements made to the intersections at 92nd Street, Dobson Road, Longmore Road and Alma School Road. This project will provide for future traffic volumes and improve pedestrian and bicycle travel once both phases have finished construction.

Beginning on Monday, May 15th at 5:00 a.m., traffic will be reduced to one lane for both east and westbound travel through the project limits. This restriction will be in place continuously 24 hours a day, seven days a week until Phase One is completed in late spring, 2024.

During construction, access to properties will be maintained at all times. Work is scheduled for Monday through Friday during daylight hours, with occasional night and weekend work as needed. No work will take place during holidays. Please obey roadway restrictions, reduced speeds and allow for extra time for travel through the work zone.
