The Maricopa County Air Quality Department runs annual pollution awareness campaigns and offers air pollution reduction programs for businesses, the community, and local governments. Many of these programs offer financial incentives or grants for implementing clean air technologies and addressing air quality issues throughout Maricopa County.

Ozone pollution is a concern in the warmer months of April through September. Ground-level ozone is formed by a chemical reaction that needs heat from sunlight, nitrogen oxides, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Ozone High Pollution Advisories are issued when the highest concentration of ozone pollution may approach the federal health standard.

Participate in Maricopa County's Mowing Down Pollution Program to receive up to receive a $150 voucher towards the cost of a new electric and a battery powered lawn mower and/or a $50 voucher towards the cost handheld lawn and garden device at participating Home Depot stores after recycling gas-powered equipment at a participating drop-off location.
