High Risk Perinatal Program

This program is formerly known as Newborn Intensive Care Program (NICP).

What is the High Risk Perinatal Program (HRPP)?
Babies born early or sick at birth are at high-risk for health or development problems. The High Risk Perinatal Program (HRPP) provides free in-home community health nursing services to assist eligible families and their newborns during the transition from the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to their home and community.

We Provide
Specially-trained nurses monitor the baby’s health and development for up to three years of age, depending on the needs of your baby and family. Services include:

• Monitoring of baby’s health, development, and well-being.
• Parental support and education in caring for a high-risk infant
• Referrals to other community & family resources

Who is Eligible
Parents of babies in Maricopa County who require 5 or more days of care in the NICU are eligible or with a physician referral. At the time of the baby's discharge from the hospital to home, the hospital will provide you a referral to a Community Health Nurse in your area.

There is no cost to be enrolled.
