Getting Started
- Public Notices
are placed in the Arizona Business Gazette on Thursday. Automatic
e-mail notifications of the bid advertisements are sent to contractors,
which are listed on the Article 5 Contractors Register, and who
are qualified to perform the specific area(s) of work covered
in the specific project. Completing the Contractors Application
Form will place your firm on the Contractors Register.
- Generally,
projects are administered using Maricopa Association of Governments
(MAG) Standard Specifications and Uniform Standard Details, latest
revisions thereto, and Maricopa County Department of Transportation
(MCDOT) English Supplement to M.A.G. Uniform Standard Specifications
for Public Works Construction. Copies of M.A.G. specifications
and details are available at the Maricopa Association of Governments
Office, 302 1st Avenue, Suite 300, Phoenix, Arizona. A printable
copy of the MCDOT Supplement to M.A.G. is available on-line or
at the Customer Services desk, 2901 West Durango Street, Phoenix,
Arizona 85009, at a cost of $13.00 each.
- Plans and
Special Provisions Bid/Contract Documents may be obtained by downloading
or ordering a CD-Rom on this site, under Invitation for Bids.

Appeals
- Article
9 - Legal and Contractual Remedies, of the Maricopa
County Procurement Code contains instructions for bidders
regarding protests and appeals of contract award decisions.
Submitting Bids
- Date, time
and place for the bid opening are specified in the bid advertisement.
- Each bid
must be accompanied by a Surety Bond, cashier's or certified check
or postal money order equal to 10 percent of the bid, made payable
to the Treasurer of Maricopa County as a guarantee that if the
work is awarded to the bidder; the bidder will, within ten (10)
days from the date of Notice of Award, enter into proper contract
and bond condition for the faithful performance of the work, otherwise
said amount will be forfeited to the Board of Supervisors as liquidated
damages.
- Contracts
are submitted to the Board of Supervisors for award. The Board
of Supervisors reserves the right to reject any and all bids and
to waive any informality in any bid received.
- All addenda
issued by the County for the specific project must be included
with the bid in their entirety and acknowledged on the second
page of the proposal.
- A pre-bid
conference is held for all projects and will be listed in the
bid advertisement. It is in the best interest of prospective bidders
to attend the Pre-Bid Conference.
- A pre-construction
meeting will be scheduled with the contractors following the award
of the contract. Major subcontractors should also attend.
Bidders Checklist
- Is the No
Collusion Affidavit form filled out, signed and notarized.
- Is the Verification
of License form filled out, dated and signed.
- Is the DBE/MBE/WBE
Assurance Affidavit form signed and notarized.
- Has the proposal
been properly signed?
- Are the addenda
included with the bid in it's entirety and acknowledged on the
second page of the proposal?
- Does the
Bidding Schedule include unit costs, amounts per bid item, and
total bid amount?
- Is the bid
accompanied by a certified check, cashiers check, or a surety
bond for an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the total amount
bid
