Road Closure Advisory
Miller Road / First Street at the BWCDD Canal
10/28/13 to 2/25/14
Buckeye, AZ — Beginning at 6:00 a.m., Monday, October 28, 2013, the Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) contractor will temporarily close Miller Road/First Street at the Buckeye Water Conservation and Drainage District (BWCDD) Canal (north of Narramore Avenue) to facilitate roadway improvements and bridge rehabilitation activities. During this time, MC85, Baseline Road or Oglesby Road (SR 85) or Fourth Street may be used as an alternate route. The road will reopen by 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 25, 2014.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Road closure during construction facilitates roadway improvements, enhances safety for motorists and workers, expedites the project schedule, decreases construction cost and minimizes inconveniences to the traveling public.
About the Project
Starting Monday, October 28, MCDOT, in partnership with the Town of Buckeye, will begin construction activities associated with the rehabilitation of the existing Miller Road Bridge crossing of the BWCDD Canal located just north of Narramore Avenue. Work will incorporate the annual canal “dry up” period in November and is expected to be complete by late February 2014.
The project consists of replacing the Miller Road Bridge deck, construction of new roadway approaches on Miller Road, relocation of the BWCDD Lateral 21 pipe line and turnout structures and the installation of a new concrete canal lining. The new bridge has been designed to accommodate the installation of additional travel lanes when future roadway widening is warranted.
Construction Work Hours
Work hours will be 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Some evening and weekend work may be required. During the canal dry up period from November 11 through November 22, the contractor will work day and night shifts each day, including the weekend of November 16th and 17th.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
