Construction Activity Update
Gilbert, AZ — The Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) contractor has completed the installation of new water lines and sewer lines near Williams Field Road and Mustang Drive and cleared obstructions from the right-of-way in preparation for roadway widening activities.
This month the MCDOT contractor will place a concrete abutment on the south side of Williams Field Road and drill bridge pier structure shafts for the bridge widening over the Eastern Canal. Other activities include relocating fire hydrants and installing a new 30-inch storm drain lines and retention basins for drainage.
Traffic Restrictions
During construction, traffic along Williams Field Road will be restricted to one lane in each direction in the work zone and left turn restrictions can be anticipated. Access will be maintained at all times for residents, businesses and emergency vehicles.
Construction Work Hours
In accordance with seasonal changes, the MCDOT contractor may begin activities as early as 7:00 a.m. and work until 3:30 p.m. Some evening or weekend work may be required.

About the Project
MCDOT, in partnership with the Town of Gilbert, is widening the roadway and improving drainage along a 1.5-mile segment of Williams Field Road between Gilbert Road and the Eastern Canal. This project will address roadway drainage and traffic safety, and increase roadway capacity by widening Williams Field Road to a continuous six-lane roadway (three travel lanes in each direction) throughout the project limits. Additional improvements include the installation of new curb, gutter, sidewalk, street lighting, landscaping, retention basins, storm drains, the widening of the Eastern Canal Bridge and intersection improvements at Lindsay Road. The project will also include the installation of an equestrian path along the north side of Williams Field from approximately 700-feet east of Gilbert Road to Lindsay Road. Project completion is slated for June 2012.
