Railroad “Quiet Zones” at R.H. Johnson & Meeker Boulevards
Surprise/Sun City West AZ (April 23, 2009) Northwest Valley residents along Grand Avenue may sleep easier now, thanks to the County’s first 24-hour railroad quiet zone. As of midnight tonight, a multi-year process of negotiation and safety improvements leading to the creation of a new railroad Quiet Zone at both the Meeker Boulevard and R.H. Johnson Boulevard BSNF railroad crossings will draw to a close. Max Wilson, Chairman of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, announced that beginning Friday train engineers will no longer be required to blow their horns when crossing these streets along Grand Avenue through Surprise and Sun City West. more details... |
